This article covers the causes and solutions when you select enable or save on a rule, a red box at the top of the screen says "There are 1 errors.", and the rule is not enabled. Check the heading that matches the message in the box.
Each rule in the app works together with a setting on the Shopify side (a checkout rule, a delivery customization, or a payment customization). A rule whose Shopify-side setting alone has been deleted does not restrict anything at checkout, so it cannot be enabled or saved. Leave it disabled, or delete it and create it again.
This happens when the Shopify-side setting alone is deleted and the app's rule remains, for example after you uninstall and reinstall the app. Access rules do not use a Shopify-side setting, so this error does not appear for them.
Cause: The Shopify checkout rule that the rule uses has been deleted. This message appears for quantity, price, weight, bundle, and customer rules, quantity, price, and weight rules by customer group, and cumulative quantity and cumulative price rules.
Solution (other than cumulative rules): Delete the rule and create it again with the same settings.
(1) Create a new rule with the same settings
On the rule's details page, select "Duplicate", check the title and other settings, and save. A new checkout rule is created for the new rule.
(2) Delete the original rule
On the original rule's details page, select "Delete".
(3) Enable the new rule
On the new rule's details page, select "Enable".
You are done when the new rule shows "Enabled" in the list and no error appears.
Solution (cumulative quantity rules and cumulative price rules): The message on screen continues: "Disable and stop the rule, then delete it and create it again. Deleting the rule also deletes what it has counted so far." Only a stopped cumulative rule can be deleted.
Note: Stopping and deleting cannot be undone. Deleting the rule also deletes every customer's total counted by that rule, and the rule you create again starts counting from 0.
(1) Disable the rule
On the rule's details page, select "Disable".
(2) Stop the rule
On the same page, select "Stop". Counting ends.
(3) Delete the rule
On the same page, select "Delete permanently".
(4) Create the rule again
Create a new rule and enable it. You can also create it with "Duplicate" before you delete the original.
For the differences between disabling, stopping, and deleting, see "Cumulative Purchase Limits: Shared Specifications".
Cause: The Shopify delivery customization that the delivery rule uses has been deleted.
Solution: On the delivery rule's details page, select "Duplicate" and save the new rule with the same settings, then select "Delete" on the original rule. After that, select "Enable" on the new rule.
Cause: The Shopify payment customization that the payment rule uses has been deleted.
Solution: On the payment rule's details page, select "Duplicate" and save the new rule with the same settings, then select "Delete" on the original rule. After that, select "Enable" on the new rule.
This appears when the rule was deleted in another tab or by another staff member while you had the page open. It can appear for every rule type.
Cause: The rule you tried to save, enable, or disable has already been deleted.
Solution: Open the rule list again. If you still need the same restriction, create a new rule.
Cause: When you selected several rules in the list to enable or disable them, some of the selected rules had already been deleted.
Solution: In the refreshed list, select the remaining rules again and repeat the action.
