Translation & Multilingual Support

Explains the steps and specifications for translating product messages and alert messages into each language added to your store.

You can translate product messages and alert messages into languages you've added to your store, such as English or Chinese, not just Japanese. Use this when you want a multilingual Shopify store to show messages in the customer's language.

Prerequisite: Open the Shopify admin → "Settings" → "Languages" and add the target language to your store beforehand.

(1) Open the type of rule you want to translate

In the app admin, open the type of rule you want to translate, such as quantity rules or price rules.

(2) Select the rule you want to translate from the rule list

Select the rule you want to translate to open its edit screen.

(3) Select "Localize"

Select "Localize" in the upper right of the edit screen.

(4) Select the language you want to translate

Select the language you want to translate from the select box. Languages other than your store's default language are shown.

(5) Enter the translation for the product message and alert message

Enter the translation for each message.

(6) Save

Select "Save."

  • You can translate product messages and alert messages.

  • You can set translations for quantity rules, price rules, weight rules, bundle rules, customer rules, access rules, cumulative quantity rules, cumulative price rules, and quantity, price, and weight limits by product. Payment rules and delivery rules have no messages, so there is nothing to translate for them.

  • The language options show the languages already added to your Shopify store (excluding the default language). You can also select languages that are unpublished in the Shopify admin.

  • Translations are set individually for each rule.

  • Translations are not carried over when you duplicate a rule.

  • For a cumulative quantity rule or a cumulative price rule, you can translate the messages for signed-in customers, the messages for customers who are not logged in, and the cart message separately. The button is labeled "Translate" instead of "Localize", and it appears on the rule details screen.

The translated message that matches the language the customer is viewing the store in is shown automatically. For languages without a translation set, the original message configured in the rule is shown.

Tip: Variables (such as {{maxQuantity}}) can be used as-is in the translated message too.
