Weight Limits by Product lets you configure precise weight restrictions by setting up each product and variant individually, one at a time.
It supports flexible controls such as per-variant individual settings and total weight limits across variants. Because only one checkout rule is consumed regardless of how many products or variants are configured, it is well suited for stores with a wide variety of weight restrictions.
Due to Shopify's specifications, a store can activate up to 25 checkout rules in total across quantity, price, weight, bundle, and customer rules combined. Standard Weight Rules consume one checkout rule per rule, which means weight rules alone can use up all 25 slots.
With Weight Limits by Product, only one checkout rule is consumed no matter how many products or variants are configured. The remaining 24 slots are available for other rule types such as quantity, price, bundle, and customer rules, enabling a more flexible restriction setup.
For products with multiple variants, you can apply the same limit to all variants at once, or set different limits for each variant individually. The unit automatically follows each product's own registered unit, so in most cases you don't need to think about units at all.

For products with multiple variants, you can set an upper limit on the total weight across all variants combined. You can also exclude specific variants from the total calculation.
