With quantity limits by product, you can set a quantity limit per variant, and a total quantity limit that adds together the eligible variants within the same product.
Prerequisite: To use quantity limits by product, enable the feature in "Settings".
Limits the purchase quantity of the same variant by minimum quantity, maximum quantity, and increment.

When "Quantity limit" is "Enabled" and the product has two or more variants, you can choose from the following methods in "Edit each variant limit".

Even if you select "Do not limit", the variant is not excluded from the "Total quantity limit" calculation.
Adds together the quantity of eligible variants that belong to the same product, and evaluates it against the minimum quantity, maximum quantity, and increment.
Quantities are not added together across different products.
Shown for products with two or more variants. For products with a single variant, it is shown when the status is "Enabled" or "Disabled".

When "Total quantity limit" is "Enabled" and the product has two or more variants, you can choose the following settings in "Edit total quantity target".

The total quantity target setting is independent of the variant-level "Quantity limit".
Configure whether the feature is enabled overall, the messages, and when the alert is displayed.

Prerequisite: To show the product message and reflect the limit in the quantity picker on the product page, enable the app embed on your main theme. If you only use the limit at checkout, the app embed is not required.
The "Quantity limit" and "Total quantity limit" apply at the same time, and both must be satisfied. The quantity picker on the product page reflects whichever maximum quantity is smaller.
